MALAGA – Good news for travel enthusiasts, business travellers and for the city of Malaga: United Airlines has announced that it will resume its direct flight service between Newark Liberty International Airport (New York) and Malaga.
The first New York Malaga flight will take place on May 30, 2024. This direct connection will be active until September 2024 and will operate three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. United Airlines has already made the tickets for these flights available to the public.

Statistics of the prevailing racing season
In the inaugural season, which started in June this year and ended recently, the airline offered a total of 17,000 seats across 52 flights. Interest was significant, supporting the decision to continue the service.
The Andalucian Government’s Delegate for Tourism, Culture and Sport, Arturo Bernal, has reacted positively to the news. “it represents a very important step forward in our main objective, which is an annual frequency”. He has also indicated that he hopes that “a year-round flight” connecting both destinations will be possible by 2025.
Good for American tourism in southern Spain
Resuming this direct route will likely boost US tourism in the Costa del Sol region, which is already on an upward trend. The improved accessibility could serve as a lure for Americans looking for sun, culture and gastronomy in southern Spain.
