La Rioja

Meanwhile, in La Rioja, the Guardia Civil investigated the alleged perpetrator of the forest fire in Monte Yerga (La Rioja).

The flames devastated 104 hectares of pastures, continental-type scrubland (herbaceous and dense scrub) and repopulation trees. Once the fire was put out, the SEPRONA of the Guardia Civil moved to the affected area to carry out an exhaustive technical-ocular inspection. This made it possible to verify that the fire originated outside a habitable country house located in Casillas de Valverde. Consequently, this culminated in the identification, location, and investigation of a resident of the area.

Bonfire

The investigation carried out by the Guardia Civil determined that one of the users of the plot, who imprudently and a few hours before the fire broke out, carried out a burning or a bonfire without taking all the security measures. Moreover, there is a ban in force from the Ministry of Sustainability, Ecological Transition.

Furthermore, the weather conditions that existed on the day of the events, included high temperatures and low humidity. Consequently, this caused the illegal burning or bonfire to encounter vegetable fuel and spread uncontrollably.

The person identified, is a 36-year-old man from Alfaro (La Rioja). It is thought he is the alleged perpetrator of the crime of forest fire due to gross imprudence or negligence.
