During the course of today and tomorrow, The Spain Summit 2022 takes place in Miami. Organised by Turespaña, 45 Spanish companies and destinations will present their premium tourist, gastronomic, cultural, or shopping offers to agents and tour operators from the US.
The Spanish Tourism Insitute, Turespaña has 4 Tourism Departments in the US. These are in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Miami. From these areas, 56 American travel agents and tour operators have been selected to meet the representatives from Spain. The event is taking place in the centre of Miami.
The 28 Spanish tourism companies and representatives of 17 Spanish destinations will have the opportunity to showcase Spain in a format that combines presentations, interactive events, and gastronomy presentations. Furthermore, there is an opportunity for over 1,000 one-2-one meetings between both countries.
Spain Summit 2022
The aim of the summit is to regenerate tourism from the US to Spain. Visitor numbers from the US to Spain had been increasing year on year up until the pandemic began, and travel was halted. However, since then, restrictions have been lifted and incidence rates are low. People are once again wanting to travel. Therefore, at this summit, Spain will reassure their hosts that Spain is a safe and sustainable country to visit with plenty to offer.
North American Market
“The North American market is especially important for the development of Spanish urban destinations. Turespaña will intensify its activity in these markets to recover pre-pandemic tourism revenue from visitors from the United States. We are working with some of the large online travel platforms to develop tools that allow us to improve the effectiveness of our marketing action and coordination with the public and private sectors”, says the general director of Turespaña, Miguel Sanz.
Spain fourth most visited European Country by US travellers
According to Hosteltur, the US market remains optimistic about travelling in 2022. Almost all air connections have already been recovered. And, furthermore, new routes such as New York to Tenerife and Palma de Mallorca, and Washington to Madrid are planned. All this will contribute to Spain being the fourth most visited European destination by US tourists.
