Filmmaker Tim Burton visits Barcelona for the opening of a new immersive exhibition – Tim Burton’s Labyrinth. It offers a glimpse into the creative universe of the legendary director. The exhibition is now open in the Catalan capital and has previously been shown in several European cities.

The exhibition is a journey through the mind and creative universe of the legendary American director. That universe goes far beyond film productions because it also addresses other aspects of his work. Among other things, 200 original drawings are shown. Many of these have not been published before.

The exhibition was created by production company Letgo in collaboration with the filmmaker himself. People can visit these at the Palau de Victòria Eugènia in Montjuïc.

Successful exhibition

The stops of ‘Tim Burton’s Labyrinth’ in Paris, Brussels and Madrid were successful with a total of 600,000 visitors. In Barcelona, more than 200,000 tickets had already been sold a month before the opening.

Immersive experience

The immersive experience consists of an hour-long labyrinthine route. In it, visitors can choose their own path through themed rooms filled with lights, music, projections, sculptures and meticulous details that bring Burton’s cinematic gems to life. So by simply entering, a random button will direct a small group to a specific room. From there, the decision falls into the hands of each visitor, who will have to decide which doors to pass through until they reach the end of the room and tour.

“It’s a journey through the mind of Tim Burton. He himself says that the exhibition collects his entire cinematic, artistic and narrative universe and transforms it into a physical and sensory journey,” says Elena Garrán, communications director of Letsgo, the creative team behind the exhibition.

The exhibition is family-friendly and suitable for all target groups. Visitors will have the chance to meet beloved characters from Burton’s critically acclaimed films. Including Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland and many more.
