The Guardia Civil has arrested a YouTuber with over one million subscribers for manufacturing and demonstrating the creation of illegal explosives.
The operation, named “SPUTNIK,” uncovered a clandestine workshop in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria, where the suspect produced hazardous substances such as thermite, gunpowder, and chloratite. Moreover, his actions posed significant risks to public safety and the environment.
Tutorials viewed over 106 million times
The detained YouTuber, whose videos have amassed over 106 million views, provided detailed tutorials on manufacturing illegal explosives and homemade weapons. In one particularly alarming video, he demonstrated the destruction of a car using 30 kilograms of thermite near a forested area. When firefighters arrived, he reportedly obstructed their access, further heightening the risk of a fire spreading.
Among his other recorded experiments were the construction of flamethrowers and homemade napalm. These activities endangered not only the suspect’s family, who lived on the property, but also nearby residents and the surrounding environment.
