Valencia parking in blue zone areas

VALENCIA – From Monday, October 30, parking is free for motorists in Valencia in the blue zone during the lunch break from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm and in the evening from 8.00 pm to 9.00 pm. This is the result of a new measure by the municipality of Valencia.

The blue zone returns to the times before the changes by the Compromís and PSOE governments. This change is a result of a motion by the Vox party, supported by the PP. The maximum parking duration of two hours will be maintained.

Fixed parking times

Blue zone paid parking periods are now generally Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm.  And then in the afternoon, from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm. Although, it should be noted that in  some neighbourhoods, parking is free on Saturday afternoons.

Rates unchanged

The parking rates remain the same in Valencia: 30 cents for a minimum of 25 minutes, 80 cents for an hour and €1.50 for the maximum two hours.

Cogesa Expats

The change is a fulfilled election promise by PP and Vox, to accommodate residents who come home for lunch. The opposition criticises the measure because it not only reduces the municipality’s income, but also because it would reduce the rotation of parking spaces.

Residents support measure

According to the Federation of Residents’ Associations in Valencia, this is a positive step. The President of the Valencian Consumers and Users Association emphasises that this change comes at the right time, given the economic situation.
