Soroptimist Award

MALAGA – Soroptimist International (SI) Costa del Sol has embarked on a mission. They aim to transform the local food system, making it more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient.

Building on the success of their 2021 initiative, the organisation is excited to announce the launch of the Second Soroptimist Award. The theme for 2023 is “Feed Your Optimism”. This award seeks to honour and promote local businesses and organisations in the Malaga province that are dedicated to enhancing sustainability in the food sector.

Positive contributions to the local food system

The Soroptimist Award was initially introduced in alignment with the United Nations General Assembly manifesto, aimed at addressing critical global challenges. SI Costa del Sol sought to recognise and celebrate the efforts of those who contribute positively to local food systems.

Daphne Theunissen, President of SI Costa del Sol, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative. Furthermore, she extended an invitation to businesses and organisations from Malaga´s rural areas to participate in this impactful endeavour. The positive feedback received from the previous edition has motivated the organisation to continue their mission.

The Second Soroptimist Award invites nominations for businesses or organisations that actively promote and utilise organic food, local food products, educate about sustainable food systems, and advocate for the reduction of food and plastic waste.
