SALOU – The famous PortAventura theme park will soon change ownership. The park, located in Spain, is now for sale with a starting price of almost one billion euros. The sales process focuses mainly on industrial and entertainment groups.

According to Eleconomista.es, Investindustrial and KKR, the current owners of the theme park, have engaged the investment bank JP Morgan to manage the sale of the complex. The next step in this process is to present the deal to potential buyers and gauge their interest.

Potential buyers

Some big names have already been mentioned as possible buyers. One of them is the well-known Universal Parks & Resorts, owned by NBC. By purchasing PortAventura, Universal could expand its influence in Europe.

It is worth noting that Universal Parks & Resorts previously had a minority stake in PortAventura between 1998 and 2004. While it has not yet been confirmed whether they will actually make an offer, it wouldn’t be surprising given their previous involvement with the park.

Another possible candidate is the Harrah’s Entertainment group, which was previously involved in the failed project ‘El Reino de Don Quijote’.
