MADRID – In a move that has stirred excitement among travellers, the British tour operator Jet2holidays has unveiled a fresh summer destination for 2024. The airline promises travel packages which offer “relaxed luxury on this picturesque Balearic island.
Operating from May 16 to October 5, the airline will operate flights to Formentera from 11 British airports, including Belfast International, Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool John Lennon, London Stansted, Manchester, and Newcastle International.
The expansion signifies the company’s confidence in the allure of Spanish destinations for British holidaymakers, despite fluctuations in travel norms due to ongoing global challenges.
Since Formentera doesn’t have its own airport, Jet2holidays has crafted a seamless journey for its clients. Travellers will first fly to Ibiza—often dubbed the ‘White Island’—located just 20 kilometres north of Formentera. Upon arrival, they will be transferred by bus to a ferry which will take them to their final destination. The package also includes transportation from the Formentera ferry terminal to the hotel. This will ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.
A tranquil escape
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2holidays, is optimistic about the new addition to their holiday offerings: “We are incredibly excited to launch packages to Formentera for summer 2024. As well as giving customers the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved summer holiday, the Virgin island is a tranquil, paradisiacal place and one of the most idyllic destinations in the Balearic Islands.”
A new must-visit in the Balearics
While Formentera may not have the high-profile reputation of its neighbour Ibiza, it is increasingly being discovered by those seeking a quieter, more laid-back vacation experience. Its crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and rustic charm make it an attractive alternative. The inclusion of Formentera in Jet2holidays’ destination list is likely to shine a new spotlight on this Balearic gem, drawing in a new wave of international visitors eager to explore Spain’s varied landscapes and cultures.
