towel to reserve sunbeds

The popular coastal town of Calpe, located near Benidorm, has grown tired of tourists reserving beach spots by placing their towels the night before. In response, the local government has decided to impose fines of €250 on those who engage in this practice.

Effective immediately, beachgoers are only allowed to lay down their towels starting at 9.00 am sharp. This new regulation aims to protect the interests of tourists who prefer to enjoy their mornings without the pressure of securing a spot at the crack of dawn. The rule ensures that everyone has an equal chance to enjoy the beach. Herewith, aligning with the town’s commitment to fair play and community enjoyment.

Beware of unattended belongings

However, those who think they can place their towels at 9.00 am and then return to bed will also be disappointed. Authorities have warned that any belongings left unattended for too long will be confiscated, and the owners will face fines. This strict enforcement seeks to prevent the inconvenience and unfairness caused by unattended towel reservations.
