The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow weather warning for the entire Valencian Community this Tuesday, as rain and storms—potentially accompanied by hail—are forecast to hit the region from 1.30 pm until midnight.
According to newspaper Las Provincias, the alert covers all three provinces: Valencia, Alicante, and Castellón. Authorities have urged caution, especially for drivers, with the Emergency Coordination Centre advising motorists to reduce speed and pull over safely if conditions worsen.
Despite it being mid-May, the region is experiencing unsettled weather. Last week, areas such as Villar del Arzobispo were blanketed in hail, resembling winter conditions. Aemet warns that similar scenes could be repeated.
Forecast for Tuesday, 13 May
The day will begin with mostly clear skies, becoming increasingly cloudy from midday due to evolving weather patterns. Showers and thunderstorms are expected during the afternoon, particularly inland, where they may be locally intense and include small hail. These could also reach the coast, although less intensely and more sporadically.
Minimum temperatures will rise slightly in inland areas of Valencia, with little change elsewhere. Maximum temperatures are set to fall in the southern half of the region but will remain stable in other areas. Winds will be light and variable, with an easterly component prevailing at moderate intervals during central hours.
Outlook for Wednesday and Thursday
No weather warnings are currently in place for Wednesday, 14 May. However, cloud cover is expected to increase throughout the day, with possible inland thunderstorms and small hail during the afternoon. Night-time temperatures may rise slightly, while daytime highs will drop in the southern half. Winds will remain light to moderate, mainly from the east.
Looking ahead to Thursday, 15 May, Aemet forecasts a continued chance of showers, especially inland in the afternoon. These could also reach the coast and may again come with storms and small hail.
Authorities advise residents and visitors to stay informed of any updates as the unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist over several days.
