A violent gang responsible for a series of high-profile burglaries in luxury villas across Andalucia has been arrested. Seven members of the group are accused of carrying out at least 16 robberies in Cádiz, Córdoba, Málaga, Seville, and other provinces, stealing property worth at least €10 million.
The Guardia Civil launched its investigation in June 2024 following multiple burglaries in the exclusive Sotogrande urbanisation in San Roque, Cádiz. The gang employed advanced strategies to evade detection, including leaving Spain immediately after each crime and only returning when police surveillance had decreased.
Detecting and dismantling the network
Despite the gang’s careful tactics, detectives tracked the arrival of key members in Spain. The group operated from a villa near La Puebla de Cazalla, Seville. Increased police surveillance eventually led to their identification and arrest.
Meticulous planning behind the robberies
The gang used detailed planning before each burglary, studying security systems and the daily routines of residents. Their primary targets were cash, jewellery, and high-value luxury goods. During the break-ins, they restrained residents and used firearms and blunt objects to force them to reveal the locations of valuables.
Stolen property seized
Following extensive investigations, the Guardia Civil arrested the gang’s seven key members. Authorities seized significant amounts of cash, including €44,500, $23,700, and 603,000 Ukrainian hryvnias. Gold bars, luxury items, safes, tools, mobile phones, and radio-transmitting equipment were also confiscated.
Additional discoveries during follow-up searches
Initial searches did not uncover the most valuable stolen goods. However, a second search led to the discovery of three firearms and multiple containers filled with jewellery and watches. In total, officers recovered 35 luxury watches and 186 high-end jewellery items.
Total value and legal proceedings
The estimated value of the recovered stolen goods exceeds €10 million. Authorities have successfully linked the gang to 16 burglaries across Cádiz, Málaga, Seville, Córdoba, Murcia, Alicante, and even Portugal. The investigation is being led by the Mixed Court Number One of San Roque (Cádiz), with further legal proceedings underway.
