Have you ever heard of places where the laws of physics seem to bend, and reality deceives your eyes? Imagine driving on a hill and experiencing something that goes completely against your sense of gravity. Welcome to the world of magnetic hills.
Magnetic hills, also known as gravity hills, exist all over the world. They are a natural phenomenon that sparks a lot of wonder. These are places where objects seemingly move uphill on their own, contrary to the expected downward path. As seen in the following video on Youtube, where a ball rolls back uphill.
These fascinating spots, where an optical illusion creates an unforgettable experience, are not only a playground for physicists but also a mystery that has enchanted travellers for centuries. They induce a shift in perspective that you won’t find anywhere else in the world in quite the same way.
Magnetic Hill in Alicante
You may have heard of the magnetic hill in New Brunswick, Canada, which has been controversial since the 19th century. You might also have heard of Electric Brae, South Ayrshire in Scotland. Similar hills can be found in Spain as well. One of them is the Cuesta Mágica de Moncayo or de Crevillent (The Magical Hill of Moncayo or of Crevillent). It is located in the province of Alicante between the towns of Crevillent and Hondón de las Nieves. A stationary car with the handbrake released seems to roll uphill here.
The hill invites you to explore the boundaries of your perception. And, of course, it also provides unique videos for your social media.
Crevillent Crevillent (or Crevillente in Spanish) is nestled between the mountains and the coast. The town offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and traditional Spanish life. It is easily accessible from the famous Costa Blanca. The Sierra de Crevillent forms an impressive backdrop and offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and other nature activities. Nearby is also the El Hondo Nature Park, an important wetland of international importance for migratory birds. This makes Crevillent an attractive destination for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
