DANA forecast

VALENCIA – The provinces of Valencia, Alicante (Costa Blanca) and Castellón are preparing for some turbulent days ahead. According to the latest forecasts from weather agency Aemet, intense rain showers and a DANA (isolated depression at high levels) are expected.

Although there is still great uncertainty about this at the moment, it is certain that unstable weather will occur. On Sunday it will become cloudy and heavy rain showers and local thunderstorms are expected in the interior of the provinces of Valencia and Castellón. Temperatures are expected to be very close to 30 degrees along the coastline.

Monday will be the transition day

Monday seems to be a transition day with less clouds and high clouds. Furthermore, temperatures will drop slightly on the coast and more inland.

Start of the DANA on Tuesday

Tuesday may start quietly, but DANA will make its influence felt during the day. Cloud cover will increase, especially in the southern part of the region, and light rain showers are possible. Minimum temperatures will drop slightly, while maximum temperatures will remain virtually unchanged.

Uncertainty for Wednesday and Thursday

Then, from Wednesday there is a lot of uncertainty. Aemet has yet to provide details on the intensity and duration of the DANA. However, one thing is certain: a lot of instability is expected.

It is therefore important to closely monitor weather forecasts and respect the recommendations of the authorities. It will not be the first time this year in Spain that showers are very heavy and are accompanied by flooding, blowing over trees or very high waves on the coast and additional potentially dangerous situations.
