The municipality in the Asturias region hosted this edition. Málaga, Madrid and Seville have been voted the most hospitable cities in Spain. The Spanish region finished behind Perthshire (Scotland), Penghu (Taiwan), Boyacá (Colombia), Trentino (Italy), Los Lagos (Chile), Erongo (Namibia), Otago (New Zealand) and Finnish Lapland. This award not only praises the region as a whole, but also highlights the hospitality and charm of some of its most picturesque municipalities. According to the Traveller Review Awards of Booking.com, Ribadesella, Cangas de Onís, Biescas, Luanco and Oviedo stand out as the municipalities with the largest number of hospitable accommodations. The places are “located in an environment ranging from a rugged coastline to mountainous landscapes of unique beauty”.

In addition to Asturias, Booking.com has also recognised other Spanish regions for their hospitality. On the one hand, La Rioja, voted the most welcoming region in the world in 2023, “remains well positioned for its charm and hospitality”. In addition, Navarre and Extremadura are also in the ranking.
