Currently, 9.26 million people in Spain receive a pension from Social Security, of which 6.4 million are pensioners. For many, retirement is the time when, after many years of working, you can start enjoying more free time without the worries of work.
In this context, Social Security in Spain has developed a new document that allows pensioners to prove their status as a pensioner. It is the ‘Certificado Integral de Prestaciones’.
With this new card, it is easy for pensioners to demonstrate that they are entitled to certain rights, discounts or services. They no longer have to submit different documents. It is an important step forward in the digitisation of government services. This makes access to government services much easier and the administrative process much simpler for users.
A pass with all the information
The Certificado Integral de Prestaciones is a free and official document that records all the information and certificates about the benefit or benefits received. For example:
- Summary proof of benefit
- Itemised Certificate of Benefit
- Certificate of benefits without amounts
- Income tax statement
- Pension revaluation certificate
- Certificate of suspended or withdrawn pensions
- Negative pension certificates
- Certificate for Beneficiaries of Deductions
Benefits for pensioners
The card not only guarantees identification as a pensioner but also gives access to important benefits and discounts. For example, discounts when participating in Imserso trips, discounts on buses, trains, and flights, on leisure activities, sports, and culture. It is also possible to get a subsidy for the cost of services such as water, electricity, and gas. This is another benefit that comes with the card.
How to apply for the pass
Applying for the digital pass is done via the Social Security website. Complete your details and then download a PDF document. If someone else applies for the card, the pensioner must give permission for this via a special SMS system. An authorised representative must be registered in the registers of Social Security.
