Salou, a beloved destination on Spain’s Costa Dorada, has introduced a new campervan site this summer to accommodate its growing popularity among camper enthusiasts. Located on Avenida Joan Fuster next to the train station, the site offers 70 free parking spaces for campervans and motorhomes.
Constructed with Next Generation funds, the site features a compacted dirt surface and solar-powered lights for adequate illumination. While the site is currently free and lacks additional services or security, it is well-equipped for campervan travellers.
Exclusive use for campervans
The municipality has enhanced signage to ensure that the area is exclusively for campervans. Cars and trailers, such as caravans, must park elsewhere.
Purpose and regulations
The new site aims to provide a comfortable space for camper tourists, a growing trend on the Costa Dorada. Salou follows L’Hospitalet de l’Infant in establishing a dedicated campervan area in this region.
In Spain, campers can park anywhere permitted for other vehicles, as long as they adhere to local regulations and avoid restricted areas like beaches and nature reserves. For specific parking durations and rules, it’s advisable to check with local authorities.
