Road rage incident leads to deliberate collision on Mallorca motorway

MALLORCA – The Guardia Civil is investigating a man for alleged reckless driving and intentional damage following a heated argument that escalated into a deliberate collision on the MA-19 highway in Mallorca.

The incident took place on April 19, 2024, in the Som Oms industrial estate in Palma de Mallorca, where an altercation between two drivers quickly spiraled out of control. After the argument, the suspect chased the other driver to the MA-19 motorway, executing several dangerous maneuvers in an attempt to block the victim’s vehicle.

In a desperate attempt to escape, the victim reversed their car up one of the motorway on-ramps. However, the pursuing driver also reversed his vehicle and intentionally collided with the victim’s car, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The shocking moment was captured on video provided by the victim and was corroborated by footage from the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) cameras.

Following the receipt of the complaint and a thorough analysis of the video evidence, the Guardia Civil identified and located the suspect. He is now under investigation for reckless driving and causing intentional damage.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of road rage and the importance of maintaining composure while driving. The authorities are urging drivers to report any aggressive or dangerous behaviour on the roads to help prevent such incidents in the future.
