“Don’t abandon us! Reina and her 300 fellow residents need your help

Reina

Alongside at least 300 other residents of the finca, Reina faces an uncertain and dire future. For years, she has lived peacefully on a vast finca in the inland region of the Costa del Sol. The assurance of never having to leave this safe and idyllic place once gave her hope and a sense of security. Now, for the first time since those dark days, she feels the weight of anxiety returning.

InSpain.news ‘spoke’ to Reina through her ‘mother’ Concordia’s voice, who saved the lives of thousands of animals on the Costa del Sol. And Concordia does not only save the lives of animals, she also makes sure the people who hurt those animals, can’t do that again by reporting them to the police so they get the punishment they deserve. We tell you more about that later, let’s first talk to Reina.

Good afternoon, Reina. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us. Can you tell us what is happening at Todos los Caballos del Mundo?

Reina: Hello everyone, my name is Reina, which means ‘queen’ in Spanish. I am talking to you because my mother, Concordia, is desperately looking for funds to continue feeding us and rescuing animals. Without her and her sister, I wouldn’t be here.

What is your story, Reina? How did you end up at the sanctuary?

When I was five days old, my biological mother and her friends crossed the A7 highway in Marbella looking for water. We were starving and caused an accident in which an entire family died. My mother sacrificed her life for me in a collision with a truck. I was terrified and injured.

How did Concordia help you?

The rescue services said I wouldn’t survive, but Concordia fed me milk every two hours and even let me sleep in her bed. Thanks to her love and dedication, I grew strong and smart. Now I am the leader of the sanctuary.

What does the sanctuary mean to you and the other animals?

It is a paradise for us. Here, new, traumatised horses learn to trust humans. I help them by playing with Concordia and eating carrots from her hand. When they see for a while how I trust Concordia after a few days, they feel comfortable and start trusting people too.

What is happening now? Why is there a crisis?

Due to rising costs and other issues, the sanctuary is at risk of closing. If donations don’t come in soon, many animals will have to be put to sleep. Concordia is desperate; we have only up to four months.

How can people help?

Any help is welcome! People can buy food, pay vet bills, or donate via GoFundMe, bank transfer, Bizum, or Paypal. Companies and private people can sponsor us, hotels, shops and other organisations can put a tin in their reception, and volunteers are also needed. Even the smallest contribution helps us immensely.

What would you like to say to our readers?

Please don’t abandon us! Concordia promises to protect and love all the animals until the end of their lives. We live in a beautiful place full of peace and harmony. Please help us survive, we do not want to die!

Thank you so much for your time, Reina. We hope our readers will support you.

Thank you. Lots of animal love to all of you.

happy Reina
