LONDON – Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This marks her 70 years of service to the people of the UK, the Commonwealth, and its Realms.

As part of the celebrations, there will be a 4-day bank holiday in the UK. This will take place from Thursday June 2 until Sunday June 5. Over this period, there will be a variety of special events.

Thursday 2nd June

Trooping the Colour: The Queen’s Birthday Parade will be held on Thursday 2nd June 2022 starting at 11am from Buckingham Palace. The colour will be trooped by more than 1400 officers and soldiers. The Parade will then move down The Mall to Horse Guard’s Parade. At that point, it will be joined by members of the Royal Family on horseback and in carriages.

During the Queen’s birthday parade A Royal Gun Salute will be fired.

The Parade will close with the traditional RAF fly-past. This will coincide with The Queen and members of the Royal Family balcony appearance.

Friday 3rd June

Service of Thanksgiving: St Paul’s Cathedral will hold a historic Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen’s reign on Friday 3rd. Great Paul is the largest church bell in the country. And according to royal.co.uk, it will be rung for the Service. It was made in 1882 but fell silent in the 1970s due to a broken mechanism. It was restored in 2021 and has been rung on 8 occasions since. However, this is the first royal occasion it will be rung.

Saturday 4th June

The Derby at Epsom Downs: Her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by Members of the Royal Family, will attend the Epsom Downs Derby. Epsom Downs has had the privilege of welcoming Her Majesty the Queen to The Derby for nearly 70 years.

Age in Spain tells you how you can participate in the celebrations even if you are not in the UK. In addition to many events, Age in Spain have also organised a congratulations card. They would like as many people as possible to sign the card. It will then be personally presented to the UK Ambassador in Spain, Mr Hugh Elliott, during the official Platinum Jubilee celebration in Madrid on 2 June 2022.

According to Spanish News Today, Carrefour are also getting involved. To commemorate the occasion, they are introducing a massive range of British products in just under 30 of their stores throughout Spain. This is part of their “Flavours of the United Kingdom” campaign, and as such, these items will be available until June 9.

So, if you are planning an event, and want to feel a little closer to the UK at this time, then have a look at what Carrefour has to offer. An occasion such as this will not happen again any time soon.
