Hit-and-run driver detained after hitting elderly woman in Güevéjar

The Guardia Civil has detained a driver in connection with a hit-and-run incident involving an elderly woman in Güevéjar, Granada.

The driver is being charged with reckless driving, fleeing the scene of an accident, and causing injury through negligence.

Incident details

The incident occurred on the GR-3424 road in Güevéjar. An 87-year-old woman was crossing a pedestrian crossing with a walker when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver, travelling in the wrong lane, hit the woman and left the scene without offering any assistance. The woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Arrest of hit-and-run driver

The investigation was conducted by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Guardia Civil in Granada. Using traffic control cameras and witness statements, the authorities were able to identify the vehicle and the driver involved in the incident. The suspect was subsequently located and detained by the Guardia Civil.
