LOGRONO – The year has started well for residents of Logroño who bought a ‘décimo‘ of lottery number 41665 at lottery office number 6 in their hometown: they can share €100 million together. With a tenth El Niño lottery ticket, they won an amount of €200,000.
All parts of the winning lottery ticket number 41665 were sold by lottery office number 6 in Logroño. This office has traditionally been selling lots with the same lot number every week since 1973. The number combination was once chosen by Mari Carmen and Marco Alda Peréz, the grandparents of the current lottery company owners Ángel and Ignacio.
“We have this lottery number all year round, as a tribute to our grandparents”, says Ángel, who is still celebrating the win with a glass of wine in his hand. “We are very happy because so many families can now take advantage of this prize,” he says with a smile. Even children of residents who have since passed away have continued the tradition of lot number 41665. Mari Carmen, who started this lottery number almost fifty years ago, passed away in the summer of 2020. Her grandsons now dedicate the first prize to their grandmother in delirious joy.
168 thousand euros per décimo
Furthermore, it is estimated that Ángel and Ignacio sold about 280 décimos (28 runs) of the winning El Niño lottery number. Another 220 décimos were sold in bar La trompeta de plata in Logroño. After deduction of the gambling tax, the winners are left with about €168,080 net per décimo that they have purchased. The owners of the bar itself, have been playing with this for 37 years, and a campsite in the Haro district had several décimos of the winning lottery ticket.
Second and third prize winners spread across Spain
The second prize of El Niño went to lot number 44469, which yields €75,000 gross per sold décimo. Unlike the winning ticket, this ticket number was sold in different parts of Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona, A Coruña, Málaga, San Sebastian, Alicante, Córdoba, Granada and Almería.
Then, the third prize went to lot number 19467 and the lucky winners will receive €25,000 gross per décimo. As with the second prize, this lottery number was also sold all over Spain. This includes the provinces of A Coruña, Barcelona, Cádiz, Córdoba, Cuenca, Málaga, Pontevedra and Valencia, among others.
700 million euros paid out
In total, an amount of €700 million in prize money was paid out in the Lotería del Niño draw. It concerns 18,960 winning tickets. 50 series have been issued, each with 100 thousand lots of €200, which are sold in décimos of €20 each.
