Benalmádena Butterfly Park voted best attraction in Spain

BENALMáDENA – Of all the zoos and theme parks in Spain, the Benalmádena Butterfly Park (mariposario de benalmádena) has been voted the best in Spain. The park received recognition at the Remarkable Venue Awards in the Andalucian capital of Seville. 

A panel of industry experts has chosen the Butterfly Park in Benalmádena for this fifth edition of the Remarkable Venue Awards due to its high appeal. They call the ‘Mariposario de Benalmádena’ it is the largest and most spectacular butterfly park in Europe. 

Awarded by the ticketing platform Tiquets, the award honours attractions such as theme parks and zoos. To arrive at the final verdict, more than 850,000 customer reviews are first looked at. In addition to the prize for the best attraction; there will be prizes for the best museum, the most remarkable location, the best monument, and the best onsite experiences. Among the nominations were parks and sites from France, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, the United States, Italy, and Spain. 

Stiff competition 

The competition was fierce but the Butterfly Park beat the Puy du Fou España theme park in Toledo, the Codorníu winery in Barcelona, and the Poema del Mar aquarium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. 

Cogesa Expats

The winners were chosen last month by a panel of industry experts in each country. The award is positive for Benalmádena as it strengthens its positioning on the Costa del Sol within the tourist market. Furthermore, the butterfly park now participates in the final where the best attraction in the world is chosen.  This will be held in America in January. 

Congratulations from mayor 

Benalmádena Mayor Víctor Navas visited the attraction last Friday to congratulate the park’s management for their continued efforts to make it the most visited attraction in the municipality. 

“We would like to honour the Butterfly Park for being recognised as the best tourist attraction in Spain. This park is always the most visited attraction in our city. And, furthermore, is even among the most visited attractions in the province, so this fills us with pride. The prize strengthens the tourist attraction of Benalmádena, which offers the largest concentration of leisure spaces on the Costa del Sol,” said the mayor. 

The Butterfly Park in Benalmádena 

The Butterfly Park is located on the edge of Benalmñadena Pueblo, next to the Buddhist stupa. It is housed in a Thai temple and contains exotic landscaped gardens. More than 1,500 species of butterflies live here along with other exotic animals such as toucans, turtles, bats, frogs, and parrots.
