A routine flight from mainland Spain to Mallorca took a surprising turn when a group of men from Murcia turned it into a bachelor party celebration. As part of the festivities, the groom’s friends organised an impromptu game of bingo mid-flight, inviting all passengers to join.

The men distributed bingo cards and acted as announcers, turning the cabin into a temporary party venue. While some travellers welcomed the light-hearted entertainment, others viewed the event as disruptive and questioned its appropriateness.

Mixed reactions from passengers and crew

Reactions from passengers varied. Some engaged enthusiastically with the game, while others expressed discomfort with the noise and atmosphere. Cabin crew had to manage the situation carefully, balancing safety with the festive mood.

After the plane landed in Mallorca, news of the in-flight bingo spread quickly on social media. As reported by La Opinión de Murcia, the public response was equally divided. Some users praised the creativity and spirit of the group. Others criticised the use of a shared travel space for personal celebration.

Stag and hen parties prompt action in Spain

Bachelor and bachelorette parties are a common sight in Spanish cities, especially popular destinations like Benidorm, Mallorca, Seville, and Málaga. However, their growing visibility has prompted concerns among local residents. In response, several cities have passed regulations aimed at maintaining public order.

In Málaga, since 2023, it is illegal to wear sexually explicit costumes or carry inflatable dolls in public. Offenders can face fines of up to €750. Yet, enforcement appears limited—only one fine has been issued in over a year.

Granada and Seville have introduced similar restrictions in recent months. These regulations aim to curb disruptive behaviour and balance tourism with respect for public spaces.

When celebration meets controversy

This latest example on a plane follows other recent incidents. In August 2024, a groom was filmed being wheeled through a Mercadona supermarket dressed as a pineapple, referencing a quirky dating signal. More recently, in April 2025, a bachelorette party on El Arenal beach made headlines when the bride wore a giant pink flamingo costume and posed for photos with tourists.

While these displays are often seen as amusing by some, others see them as contributing to nuisance tourism. Authorities continue to grapple with the challenge of drawing the line between personal celebration and public disturbance.

Empanadas at altitude

Despite the divided opinions, the bachelor party on the flight appeared to achieve its goal of creating a memorable experience. When the first passenger called out “bingo,” he received a homemade empanada, prepared by the best man’s mother.

What followed on the island is unknown, but one thing is clear: the line between festive fun and public responsibility is becoming an ongoing conversation in Spain.
