If you’re dreaming of rugged mountains, mysterious caves, and wild, untamed beaches, the new Asturias direct flights are your perfect gateway this summer. With a record-breaking 30 routes, Santiago del Monte Airport is setting a new standard for the region’s air travel.

It’s a historic summer for Asturias Airport. Never before has it been possible to fly to so many places directly from Spain’s green northern coast. A total of 30 non-stop destinations, 19 within Spain and 11 across Europe, make this the region’s most connected summer ever. The airport, located in Santiago del Monte, sits about 15 km from Avilés and around 40 km from the regional capital, Oviedo.

From Europe’s cities to Spain’s green gem

Travellers from Paris, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf and Milan can now fly directly to Asturias, ideal for anyone looking to discover the green heart of Spain without the hassle of a stopover. Popular cities like London, Brussels, and Rome are also back on the departures board, contributing to a total of 350,000 international seats available until the end of October. This makes it easier than ever for European visitors to experience the unspoilt nature, distinctive cuisine, and rich culture of this lesser-known region.

Since 2019, the regional government of Asturias has been working on its “Estrategia de Conectividad Aérea” (Air Connectivity Strategy), which is now clearly paying off. The airport is currently the eighth busiest in Spain for domestic routes, and the second most connected in Spain’s Green Coast (España Verde), second only to Bilbao.

Andalucia and the Valencian Coast: now within easy reach

For the first time ever, Asturias is offering direct flights to four Andalucian cities: Seville, Málaga, Granada, and Jerez. This is big news for Asturians with family ties to the south, but also a sign of growing domestic connectivity. With 537 return flights and 170,000 seats available this summer, the air bridge between north and south is stronger than ever — mainly operated by Spanish carrier Volotea.

Also new: all three airports in the Valencian Community are now directly accessible from Asturias. Alicante, Valencia, and — perhaps unexpectedly- Castellón have each secured a spot on the region’s growing list of destinations.
