The Alhambra in Granada, Spain’s most visited monument, is set to increase its ticket prices once more following a recent hike in January.
The governing body responsible for the protection, administration, and preservation of the Alhambra has made this decision in response to rising costs. In 2023, the Alhambra attracted a staggering 2.6 million visitors, making it not only the most visited monument in Spain but also placing it among the top 10 most visited monuments worldwide. It stands alongside iconic sites such as;
- The Great Wall of China
- Sydney Opera House
- Eiffel Tower
- Notre Dame in Paris
- The Colosseum in Rome
- Taj Mahal
- The Lincoln Memorial in Washington
- Egyptian Pyramids
Price increase of 28 percent in one year
According to Ideal, the price for a standard admission ticket is expected to rise to €20 to offset increased expenses. This proposal is currently under review by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte of the Junta de Andalucía. If approved, this will mark the second recent price hike, following an increase in January 2023, when the general admission ticket price rose from €14 to €18, an increase of 28.5%.
