Spanish hotels feature in TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best awards 2021

After a year in which the travel, tourism and hospitality industries have been hard hit, the TripAdvisor Best of the Best awards are a much-needed boost.

Based on millions of reviews

Every year, Tripadvisor combs through the millions of reviews from its global community of travellers to surface the hotels that people raved about most, and this year is no different.

“As the world gears up for a busier summer travel season, Tripadvisor’s highly coveted Best of the Best Awards are here to help people discover spectacular places to stay as they start planning their long-awaited next trip,” said Lindsay Nelson, chief experience and brand officer at Tripadvisor. “From tropical bungalows in the Caribbean to scenic safari lodges in Africa, this year’s winners span six continents and 83 countries — plenty of options to cover any type of trip travellers are craving.”

New hotel categories

In addition to the much-loved categories of hotels and B&Bs that Tripadvisor typically awards, an exciting change for 2021 includes the introduction of four brand-new categories.

New this year are the Hottest New Hotels, Top Rooftop Hotels, Safari Stays and Picture-Perfect Hotels.

Best romance hotels and small hotels

In 2nd place for best romance hotel is Cases Noves in Guadalest

. This is a boutique hotel in rural surroundings in the Guadalest Valley, just 20 minutes from the beaches of Benidorm and Altea. Along with its perfect 5 rating, Cases Noves also holds Tripadvisor’s Green Leaders Silver Level for its environmental commitment. With incredible views along the valley, this adults only hotel is a chance to get away from it all.

Cases Noves also came in 22^nd in the world for best small hotel. It definitely sounds worth a visit.

Rooftop hotels

Spain had a good showing in this category with three hotels in the top 25 rooftop hotels. As most have a rooftop bar, the evenings can be spent enjoying a sundowner.

In 10^th place is Sant Francesc Hotel Singular

on Mallorca. The 5-star hotel is a restored 19th-century mansion in the heart of the historic centre of Palma de Mallorca. The rooftop features an impressive sundeck and pool with magnificent views over the city.

17th place went to H10 Madison

in Barcelona. Located in the heart of Barcelona, just 240 metres from the cathedral, it is a new four-star superior hotel. The amazing roof terrace has a plunge pool and close-up views of the cathedral.

ME Sitges Terramar

gained 24^th spot due to its Radio Rooftop Bar on the 8th floor of the hotel. With wonderful views along the beach, guests can enjoy a mixture of music, design and sensorial cocktails.

Hottest new hotels

San Sebastian is the location for the 5^th placed hottest new hotel in the world – Hotel Bidaia

. Located in a unique villa in the central Gros neighbourhood, architect Lucas Alday designed the building in 1912.

As one Tripadvisor reviewer said in May 2021, “The hotel is the perfect combination of modern amenities in an old and emblematic house.”
