From June 5 to September 21, 2025, the coastal town of Estepona will host Van Gogh: Grandes Éxitos, an immersive digital exhibition that reimagines the work of one of the world’s most celebrated artists.
Taking place at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos, the exhibition offers a new way to engage with Vincent van Gogh’s paintings through 360-degree projections and audio-visual storytelling.
Immersive technology transforms iconic paintings
This isn’t a traditional art gallery. Visitors are surrounded by projections on walls, ceilings, and floors. Paintings like The Starry Night, Sunflowers, and Almond Blossom are presented using over 40 projectors, accompanied by a curated soundtrack and fluid animations. The goal is not just to show the work, but to immerse people in it.
Some of Van Gogh’s best-known images are reimagined through holographic effects and morphing technology. A self-portrait may slowly shift into a landscape. A brushstroke becomes a moving wave. The effect is both modern and respectful of the original art. It’s a format designed to engage people of all ages, whether or not they are art enthusiasts.
Understanding the artist behind the canvas
The exhibition doesn’t stop at visuals. It also explores Van Gogh’s personal life and artistic journey. Visitors learn about his inspirations, struggles, and the techniques he used to produce his most recognised work. These insights help to contextualise the artwork and bring the man behind the images into sharper focus.
Estepona joins list of cultural hotspots
After successful runs in Madrid, Seville, and Málaga, the Estepona edition marks another step in the expansion of immersive art experiences across Spain. Its arrival also reinforces the Costa del Sol’s growing reputation as a cultural destination, not just a beach holiday spot.
