Three Spanish companies have secured a spot on Fortune’s 2024 list of the most admired companies. The list consists of a total of 317 companies from more than 50 sectors.
Banco Santander is ranked 82nd. Fashion giant Inditex, owner of brands such as Zara and Bershka, is in 167th place. Telefónica ended in the 277th place.
Top rated international companies
This ranking, which has been compiled since 1997, recognises in particular the top-rated the largest international companies. A survey was conducted for this report, organised by Fortune magazine in collaboration with the consulting firm Korn Ferry. More than 15,000 executives, directors and analysts were surveyed. The list was then drawn up with the results of the investigation.
Judging criteria
Survey participants were able to rate companies based on a number of criteria. For example, financial strength, management and product capacity, social responsibility, talent attraction, and ability to operate internationally. This year’s top three include Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon.
Banking sector
Banco Santander has emerged as the seventh most admired bank in the world. Chairman of the Board Ana Botín emphasised that this recognition is the reward for the work of the 200,000 employees, both in Europe and in the United States.
The teams do “exceptional work every day to support 165 million people and companies, contribute to the regions in which the bank operates and generate shareholder value,” Botín said.
