TENERIFE — Jay Slater, the 19-year-old from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, has now been missing for over three days. Despite intensified police searches, there is still no sign of Jay. The Guardia Civil continues their extensive efforts to locate him, scouring the mountainous terrain around Rural de Teno park. This is where he was last known to be.

Jay’s mother, Debbie, who flew to Tenerife to assist in the search, has faced additional anguish from false reports claiming her son has been kidnapped due to a debt. These reports have not been confirmed, and Debbie has denounced those spreading these rumors. The Guardia Civil has stated they are not ruling anything out and remain committed to finding Jay.

Lucy

The last person Jay communicated with was his friend Lucy on Monday morning. Jay called her to say he was lost and trying to make his way back to their holiday apartment. Lucy has expressed her frustration and concern, stating to UK press and on social media that “there’s something weird going on. It is suspicious. In two days you’re telling me someone’s not seen him.”

Lucy emphasised the oddity of the situation, noting, “There’s a restaurant 10 minutes away that he would have seen or walked past. It’s suspicious and it’s weird.” This sentiment reflects the growing worry among Jay’s friends and family, who believe there is more to his disappearance than initially thought.

Go Fund Me

Compounding the distress, numerous fraudulent “Go Fund Me” accounts have been set up, claiming to support the search for Jay. According to LBC news, people have unfortunately already donated to these fake accounts. Jay’s family has clarified they do not want any “Go Fund Me” accounts and are asking people not to donate to any of them. Instead, they have created an official Facebook Group called “Jay Slater Missing” to provide accurate updates and coordinate legitimate search efforts.

Appeal for information

The family and local authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to Jay’s whereabouts. The official Facebook group serves as the central hub for updates and coordination. As the search progresses, the Spanish and expat community remains united in their hope for Jay’s safe return.

For ongoing updates and to support the search, please join the official Facebook group Jay Slater Missing. Any information regarding Jay’s whereabouts should be directed to local authorities or shared through the official channels.
