Mijas double murder

A woman has been found dead in a well in Rincón de la Victoria, Málaga, in a case that is now being investigated by Spanish police and judicial authorities. Three people have been detained in connection with the case, including the woman’s current partner, according to Spanish reports.

The body was discovered on Wednesday morning, July 1, in a well near Arroyo Cuevas, close to a rural track running between cultivated land and farmhouses. The location is near exit 968 of the A-7 motorway in the direction of Almería.

Three people detained

The operation involved both the Guardia Civil and Policía Nacional, with the Guardia Civil reportedly responsible for recovering the body because of where the well was located. A judicial delegation and a forensic doctor attended the scene before the body was transferred to the Instituto de Medicina Legal in Málaga for a post-mortem examination. Source

The victim has been described in Spanish media as a Spanish woman born in the 1990s. Her identity has not been officially released, and investigators are still working to clarify the circumstances of her death.

Europa Press reports that three people have been detained for their alleged connection with the case, one of them the woman’s current partner. The investigation remains at an early stage, and the detainees have not been convicted of any offence.

Possible gender violence being examined

The Subdelegation of the Government in Málaga has said its Unit Against Gender Violence is gathering information in relation to what it described as a suspected gender-based killing. The case remains under investigation, and the final classification will depend on the findings of police and judicial authorities.

Spanish reports also say investigators are trying to determine whether the body may correspond to a woman whose disappearance had previously been reported. That point has not yet been officially confirmed.

The case is under judicial investigation, and further details are expected once the post-mortem has been completed and the detainees are brought before the competent court.

Investigation near the A-7

The area where the body was found lies inland from Rincón de la Victoria, close to the A-7 and not far from rural tracks, fields and scattered properties. The discovery prompted a police operation during the day, with officers securing the area while the judicial and forensic teams carried out their work.

Rincón de la Victoria is a coastal municipality east of Málaga city and part of the Axarquía area. It is popular with residents, second-home owners and visitors, and lies on one of the main routes along the eastern Costa del Sol.
