VALENCIA – National police are investigating the discovery of the bodies of a 61-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son in a hotel room in the city of Valencia, according to confirmed sources from the investigation.
As the newspaper ‘Levante-EMV’ reports, the discovery of the bodies was made in the early afternoon. The hotel staff had gone to the room where the woman and her son were staying. Apparently, the son was on the bed and the woman on the floor, at the feet of the man.
The National Police’s homicide unit opened an investigation to clear up the mysterious deaths. It later turned out to be a 54-year-old Colombian woman and her disabled son, a 25-year-old man.
After the gruesome discovery was reported, several National Police patrols rushed to the hotel on Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas. According to police sources, the victims had checked into the hotel last Wednesday and had not been seen since. The woman and her son reportedly died the same day.
A team of the Forensic Police conducted a thorough inspection of the room to search for clues of any criminal activity, and to clarify the causes of both deaths.
The Murder Unit of the Valencia Police Headquarters has taken charge of the investigation. One of the hypotheses the officers are considering is that the mother may have killed her son, who suffered from a mental disability, before committing suicide herself.
