SEVILLE – What started out as a fun evening for all the family ended in tragedy as a tractor lost control at the Three Kings parade in Marchena, Seville.
One person died, and 5 others are injured, one of which is a child. Three of the injured are said to be in a serious condition. According to television reports, the deceased is an elderly lady in her 70s.
Eyewitnesses stated, the driver was carrying the float with Baltazar on Las Torres Street, then as it was about to turn the corner towards the Plaza de San Andés, it went out of control. The tractor ran over everyone in its path before hitting the wall of a house.
Trapped
According to EL MUNDO, two emergency teams and two more ambulances immediately travelled to the scene, in addition to the troops of the Local Police of Marchena and the Civil Guard. Apparently, the firefighters also had to intervene, since someone was trapped between the wheels of the tractor.
The driver of the tractor was among those taken to hospital. It was later reported he tested negative for drug and alcohol tests.
Condolences
The President of Andalucia, Juanma Moreno sent his condolences via Twitter, “All my love to Marchena and my deep condolences to the family of the person who died in the parade. A hug to all involved and our wish that the injured recover soon”.

The mayoress of Marchena together with the municipal corporation will appear live around 12.00 noon today. She will give a press statement. Furthermore whe will convey the Townhall’s condolences and official mourning measures to the people of Marchena.
