The National Police in Benidorm have dismantled two major drug dens, arresting three individuals involved in cocaine trafficking. The operation, which targeted two notorious drug-selling locations in the Costa Blanca town, has alleviated a growing security concern in the area.
Following a thorough investigation, authorities identified two properties, known as narcopisos, where cocaine was both sold and consumed on-site. These properties became hubs for criminal activity, with frequent incidents of violence, threats, and property crimes associated with drug users. The growing insecurity in the neighbourhood prompted the police to act, launching a detailed surveillance operation.
Police observed that the individuals running the drug operation employed lookouts in the vicinity to detect any police presence. Once sufficient evidence was gathered, the police moved to raid the properties.
Raid uncovers drugs and cash
During the raids, the police seized large quantities of drugs and cash. In total, they confiscated 2.3 kilograms of cocaine, including 180 pre-packaged one-gram doses. They also seized the following:
- 52 grams of marijuana
- 40 marijuana cigarettes
- 120 pills for erectile dysfunction
- €21,673 in cash
In a desperate attempt to avoid arrest, one of the suspects threw €10,000 and a portion of the drugs out of a window when he saw the police arriving. However, the police recovered the evidence and arrested the individual along with two others.
Insalubrious conditions and further findings
One of the properties served as a storage site, where the majority of the drugs and cash were found, while the other was primarily used for on-site sales and consumption. The conditions inside the properties were described as unsanitary.
The successful operation has disrupted a key drug trafficking point in Benidorm, helping to restore security in the area. The three individuals arrested have been brought before the local court in Benidorm, where they face charges related to drug trafficking.
