How to help DANA victims in Valencia

by admin
help and donate

The devastating floods caused by the DANA in the province of Valencia have inflicted extensive damage, with over 200 deaths and entire communities left without electricity or water. Immediate help is urgently needed. Below is a list of ways to contribute, from donations to other forms of support.

Images from Valencia have mobilised citizens across Spain, with thousands of volunteers travelling to the worst-hit areas to support those affected. This wave of solidarity is remarkable, yet authorities warn against travelling to affected areas by car, asking people to keep roads as clear as possible for emergency services. Even those on foot are being advised to turn back, as blocked roads are already causing issues for rescue efforts. While the good intentions of volunteers are appreciated, untrained individuals in these zones may put themselves at risk and disrupt the flow of aid.

Coordination contacts for help

In collaboration with social organisations, the Generalitat Valenciana has set up five WhatsApp numbers to coordinate aid for affected areas, helping to allocate resources effectively and set priorities. The numbers are categorised by the region of assistance:

  • Ribera: 619975059
  • Hoya: 690027099
  • Castellón: 679161664

Additionally, citizens can offer help by completing a form on the Generalitat’s website at somsolidaritat.gva.es.
