On Saturday afternoon, a shooting in the La Trinidad neighbourhood of Malaga resulted in six people being injured, four of whom have already been discharged from the hospital. The incident occurred around 5.50 pm on Calle Churruca, where several residents reported hearing gunfire.
Authorities responded swiftly, with emergency services and police arriving at the scene shortly after receiving the calls. According to local sources, the injuries sustained by the victims are not life-threatening. Medical staff from the Centre for Emergency Health Services (061) treated the injured on-site before transferring them to a hospital for further care. The police have confirmed that all injured parties are now in stable condition.
Ongoing investigation and arrests
Following the incident, the National Police arrested four individuals believed to be involved in the shooting. Officers also cordoned off the area to investigate a vehicle thought to be connected to the crime. Despite the arrests, police are continuing their investigation to gather more details about the events leading up to the shooting.
This shooting is the second major incident involving firearms in Malaga in just over a week. Last Sunday, a similar event occurred in the Palma-Palmilla neighbourhood, where several shots were fired. Although no one was injured in that case, two homes were damaged by the gunfire. Authorities found spent bullet casings at the scene and are conducting a separate investigation into that incident.
Community concern over rising violence
Residents in both neighbourhoods have expressed concern over the rise in violent incidents. The police are increasing their presence in affected areas to reassure the community and prevent further occurrences. Local officials have called for calm and cooperation with law enforcement as they work to resolve these cases.
As of now, the investigation into the La Trinidad shooting continues, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
