MADRID – The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a warning to individuals with celery allergies. This concerns the presence of undeclared celery in vegetable jars with chicken and rice originating from Spain (Reference: ES2023/276).
The agency urges individuals with celery allergies to be cautious, as certain products have been found to contain celery that was not declared on the labelling.
Therefore, as a precautionary measure, individuals with celery allergies who may have the affected product in their homes are strongly advised against consuming it.
The general population faces no risk
It is crucial to note that the consumption of this product poses no risk to the rest of the population. Consequently, the warning is specific to individuals with allergies to celery.
AESAN became aware of this issue through the Coordinated Rapid Information Exchange System (SCIRI) after receiving an alert from the health authorities in the Community of Madrid. Moreover, the alert highlighted the presence of undeclared celery in vegetable jars with chicken and rice.
