Estepona has introduced a new attraction that promises to offer stunning views of the Costa del Sol from 40 metres above ground. The panoramic wheel, installed along the town’s picturesque promenade, began operations this August and will remain available throughout September.
The Ferris wheel boasts 14 fully air-conditioned cabins, each with a capacity for up to eight people. Notably, the attraction has been designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that individuals with reduced mobility can also enjoy the experience.
‘Noria Princess’
Cristina Cintrano, Estepona’s Councillor for Commerce, shared that the panoramic wheel, known as the “Noria Princess,” has been strategically placed at the junction of Avenida Juan Carlos I and Avenida España, near the European Union roundabout. Therefore, this placement enhances the town’s summer attractions. Furthermore, it also adds a unique vantage point for both locals and visitors to admire Estepona’s coastline.
Boosting leisure and commercial offerings during summer
Cintrano also noted that the installation of the wheel is part of the town’s broader strategy to boost its leisure and commercial offerings during the peak summer months. The attraction operates daily from 11.00 am to midnight, extending its hours to 1.00 am on Fridays, Saturdays, and the eves of public holidays.
Preparations for the wheel began in July, including geotechnical studies and obtaining necessary approvals from the Coastal Authority. This new addition complements the existing summer activities in Estepona, including an artisanal market that runs along the seafront. The panoramic wheel is expected to be a major draw for tourists and locals alike. They get a unique way to experience the beauty of Estepona from above.
Practical
The Ferris wheel operates from 11.00 am to midnight, Sunday to Thursday. It remains open until 1.00 am on Fridays, Saturdays, and the eves of public holidays. The ticket price for the Ferris wheel is €7. Residents who are registered in the town will receive a discount and will pay €5.
