Air and train traffic resumes in Málaga and Valencia

Train and air traffic in Spain was disrupted by flooding problems and damaged infrastructure after the DANAs. The Spanish railway company Renfe is now resuming high-speed trains between Madrid and Valencia and regional trains. The trains had not been running since 30 October.

The airport of Málaga is also fully operational again after the DANA that caused enormous rainfall on Wednesday.

Since Thursday noon, the regional trains in Valencia have been running again. Renfe reported that the first high-speed train from Madrid to Valencia departed at 11.30 am, and the first train from Valencia to Madrid at 12.21 pm. All high-speed train services on the Madrid-Valencia line are operational again.

Limited regional train traffic

Trains are also running again between Barcelona and Valencia. This applies to Euromed, Intercity, and long-distance trains.

Cogesa Expats

The timetable of regional trains on lines C1, C2, and C6 has also been partially resumed. Renfe offers one train per direction every hour for lines C1, C2 and C6. The R16 and R17 lines have been operational again since Thursday morning. The R15 line, which runs between Barcelona and Reus, was restored on Wednesday evening.

Trains in Málaga

Renfe has also reinstated high-speed train services in Málaga. These services had been suspended since Wednesday due to Aemet’s red alert. The first high-speed trains departed from Madrid at 10.32 am and Málaga at 10.48 am. Renfe reports that the timetable will gradually return to normal. Avant train services between Málaga and Córdoba and between Málaga and Granada have also resumed.

According to the Spanish airport operator Aena, Málaga airport remained operational, despite the heavy rain and the red warning. More than 90% of the flights were operated. Cancelled flights include 2 flights to and from Brussels, 4 to and from Valencia, 2 to and from Melilla, and 3 departures from Málaga to Frankfurt, Zurich, and Paris-Charles de Gaulle. Six helicopter flights to Ceuta were also cancelled.
