Fuengirola family stabbing tragedy

MALAGA – A family home in Los Boliches, Fuengirola, became the centre of a devastating police investigation on Thursday, 22 January, after a man allegedly killed his father, seriously injured his mother, and then died after falling from the building.

The incident happened on Avenida de los Boliches, a busy residential street close to the seafront, shortly before 9.00 am. The Policía Nacional is treating the case as a suspected parricide and is still working to establish a motive and the precise sequence of events.

What investigators say happened

According to information released through police sources and reported by multiple Spanish outlets, a 36-year-old man attacked his parents with a bladed weapon inside their home. His 65-year-old father died at the scene.

His 63-year-old mother suffered serious stab wounds and was taken to Hospital Regional Universitario de Málaga, where she was reported to be in a very grave/critical condition, later described as stabilised by sources close to the investigation.

The fall and the forced entry

After the attack, the suspect is believed to have gone to an upper part of the building and fell into an interior courtyard. Police have not publicly confirmed whether it was a deliberate act, but suicide has been treated as a strong line of inquiry in early reporting.

Canal Sur reported that another son of the couple discovered his brother had thrown himself into the void, although sources said they could not provide further details while the investigation remains at an early stage.

When officers arrived, they were unable to access the property immediately and had to force entry to secure the scene and recover the body.

The bodies of the father and son were transferred to Málaga’s Institute of Legal Medicine for autopsies, which will help clarify the exact causes of death and support the ongoing investigation.

A rare and disturbing case

Serious family killings remain relatively rare, but when they happen, they tend to raise difficult questions about warning signs, access to support, and how quickly a household crisis can escalate behind closed doors. Investigators have not confirmed any background factors, and police have urged caution while enquiries remain active.
