A tragic incident occurred in the family-friendly resort town of Port d’Alcudia, Mallorca. An 11-year-old Irish girl, Clodagh Phelan, died after falling approximately 20 metres from a hotel balcony. At the time of the accident, her parents were asleep in their hotel room.
Clodagh was on holiday with her parents at the Club Mac hotel, a popular all-inclusive three-star resort known for catering to families. The accident happened around 6.30 am on Monday when Clodagh fell from the balcony of their hotel room on the 7th floor onto the roof of a restaurant below. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and attempted to resuscitate her. Sadly, their efforts were in vain, and she was pronounced dead shortly after. The hotel, Club Mac, has declined to comment on the incident.
At the time of Clodagh’s fall, her parents were still asleep and were unaware of the situation until after the tragic event. They are currently receiving psychological support, and the family had been scheduled to return to Ireland on Monday. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation in which the involvement of other people was ruled out from the very beginning
