The Three Kings Parade in Marbella, a highlight of the festive calendar, has been rescheduled due to weather concerns. Marbella’s mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, announced the decision via X (formerly Twitter), explaining that discussions with the Three Kings and the probability of rain led to the parade being moved to Saturday, 4 January.
“After conversations throughout the day with Their Majesties the Three Kings of the East and seeing the probability of rain on 5 January, we have decided to bring forward their arrival to our municipality to celebrate the parades in Marbella and San Pedro on Saturday, 4 January,” the mayor tweeted.
Updated schedule for Marbella and San Pedro
Yolanda Marín, Marbella’s Councillor for Festivities, confirmed that the parades in Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara will begin at 6.00 pm on Saturday, 4 January, following their original routes.
In Marbella, the parade will start from Plaza Monseñor Rodrigo Bocanegra (Pirulí). It will proceed along Avenida Ramón y Cajal, and end on Avenida Severo Ochoa near the petrol station. The event will feature 15 floats and distribute over 20,000 kilograms of gluten-free sweets. To ensure public safety, barriers will be set up along the route.
In San Pedro Alcántara, the parade will also commence at 6.00 pm, starting from Avenida Virgen del Rocío, passing through the boulevard and Calle Pepe Osorio, and concluding at Plaza de la Iglesia. Twelve floats will take part in this celebration.
Festivities in Nueva Andalucía and Las Chapas
In Nueva Andalucía, the Three Kings will arrive by boat at Puerto Banús at 10.00 am. They will then tour the district in vintage cars before reaching the Centro Polivalente, where a children’s party will be held.
In Las Chapas, a morning celebration will take place at El Pinar from 11.30 am, featuring activities for children, including a bouncy castle, chocolate with churros, surprise gifts, and live entertainment.
Changes across Malaga Province
Marbella is not the only municipality adapting plans to the forecast. Several other areas in Malaga province, including Antequera, Teba, and Torremolinos, have also rescheduled their parades. More towns may follow suit as weather predictions are updated.
The Cabalgata de Reyes, or Three Kings Parade, is a cherished tradition in Spain, marking the arrival of the Magi and the eve of Epiphany. Communities across the country gather to watch the elaborate floats and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Check local information before attending
If you plan to attend a parade, it is advisable to check for updates on your local council’s (ayuntamiento) website. Schedules can change quickly due to weather conditions, and staying informed will help ensure you don’t miss the festivities.
