Spain livestream abuse arrest

Police in Spain have arrested a man in Madrid accused of broadcasting illegal content involving his young daughter through a livestreaming platform, following an investigation triggered by a public tip-off.

According to the Policía Nacional, the case began after an anonymous report was sent to the force’s specialist email channel for reporting suspected crimes involving minors. Officers from specialist units launched an investigation late last year and later identified and arrested the suspect in Madrid.

Authorities say the man has been remanded in custody while judicial proceedings continue.

Investigation began after anonymous report

Police said the investigation was initiated after information was received through the force’s dedicated reporting channel for suspected offences involving minors. Officers then carried out enquiries that led to the identification of the suspect and the search of his home.

Electronic devices were seized during the operation and are now being analysed as part of the ongoing investigation. The child involved has been placed under protective services.

The case is being handled under judicial secrecy while enquiries continue.

Online platforms and exploitation under scrutiny

Specialist cybercrime and child-protection units are continuing to examine the suspect’s digital activity and any potential links to online distribution networks.

Police say cooperation between the public, digital platforms and investigators remains essential in detecting offences involving minors, particularly when content is shared online or via livestreaming services.

Reporting channels highlighted by police

Policía Nacional has reiterated that suspected offences involving minors can be reported confidentially through its dedicated email reporting channel. The service receives thousands of messages each year, many of which lead to police investigations.

An email address has set up to encourage public involvement in the fight against child pornography. Anyone with suspicious activity related to this type of crime is invited to anonymously and confidentially report it to denuncias.pornografía.infantil@policia.es.

Officials have urged caution in sharing information about the case while judicial proceedings are ongoing and asked for privacy for those affected.
