RAFELBUÑOL – The Guardia Civil of Valencia has dismantled an illegal slaughterhouse for lambs in a warehouse in Rafelbuñol. In addition, a 63-year-old man was arrested for forging a health registry stamp.
In November, Seprona, the Guardia Civil´s environmental division learned through the Rafelbunyol local police that animal remains had been found. They were discovered in a ditch constructed to repair a sewage pipe. There, the agents found a large amount of entrails and remains of internal organs, apparently from sheep.
Illegal slaughterhouse
As a result of the investigation, the Seprona agent managed to find out the origin of the remains. And also the place where the animals were illegally slaughtered. In addition, they discovered the person in charge of the clandestine slaughterhouse used a health registration stamp. Moreover, this did not match the place of slaughter, to market the meat.
After numerous steps, the investigators learned that the seal used on the carcasses (meat prepared for consumption, without guts or skin) matched that of a slaughterhouse in the province of Castellón. For this reason, the person responsible for the unauthorised cutting room is charged with the crime of document forgery for the fraudulent use of a sanitary register in a place for which it was not issued.
Finally, the officers carried out the corresponding procedures for the crime of forgery. In addition, Seprona seized 22 illegally slaughtered lamb carcasses. The proceedings were handed over to the court.
