A 31-year-old French tourist is in critical condition after falling from the seventh floor of a hotel in Camp de Mar, in the Mallorcan municipality of Andratx.
The incident occurred shortly after midday on Sunday, around 12.30 pm, at a well-known hotel in the resort. According to local reports, the woman fell from a seventh-floor balcony and landed in the pool area below. The impact left her in cardiac arrest.
A hotel lifeguard responded immediately, performing life-saving resuscitation manoeuvres until emergency services arrived. Medics from the ambulance service continued efforts to stabilise the victim, who reportedly went into cardiac arrest multiple times during treatment.
Emergency response and investigation
Personnel from the Local Police of Andratx and the Guardia Civil were quickly on the scene, along with two ambulances. After prolonged resuscitation attempts, the woman was eventually transferred in critical condition to the Son Espases University Hospital in Palma, the island’s primary trauma centre.
The incident bears a resemblance to the numerous cases of balconing that have occurred across the island in recent years, although police have not confirmed whether this was a factor in the current case.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fall. Officers from the Guardia Civil are speaking with the victim’s family and other potential witnesses as part of their enquiries.
Family had just arrived on the island
The tourist had arrived in Mallorca on Saturday, just one day before the incident, accompanied by her parents and brother. The family had checked into the hotel for what was intended to be a relaxing holiday.
As of Monday, no further updates have been released regarding the woman’s condition. The cause of the fall—whether accidental or otherwise, remains under investigation.
