At this time of year, many of us are filled with Christmas cheer. Lots of businesses have festive hamper raffles on display where you can purchase a lucky number. These usually relate to the last two numbers from the Spanish lotteries, El Gordo and El Niño.
Festive hamper goodies
These hampers contain lots of Christmas goodies to help you celebrate in style. They often include jamón, wine, chocolates, sweets, and other drinks and festive foods.
However, in Murcia, the Policia Nacional arrested two men selling tickets for a Christmas hamper. Furthermore, this was no ordinary hamper – it contained cocaine, hashish, alcohol, tobacco, cash as well as a traditional jamón! It was a Christmas and New Year “narco hamper”.
The police also found the list of names where customers had signed up to participate in the raffle. According to bbc.com, tickets were on sale from just €5 each.
Police also seized six kilos of marijuana and 165 plants, as well as different amounts of cocaine and hashish.
As always, the Policia Nacional are there to help. If you need immediate support, dial the emergency number 091.
If you have any information on the planning or perpetration of an offence, or if you are the victim of a crime, you must contact the National Police.
