Festive “narco” hamper arrests

MURCIA – La Policia Nacional made an unusual arrest when they detained two people for selling a festive hamper – but with a difference!

At this time of year, many of us are filled with Christmas cheer. Lots of businesses have festive hamper raffles on display where you can purchase a lucky number. These usually relate to the last two numbers from the Spanish lotteries, El Gordo and El Niño.

These hampers contain lots of Christmas goodies to help you celebrate in style. They often include jamón, wine, chocolates, sweets, and other drinks and festive foods.

Narco hamper

However, in Murcia, the Policia Nacional arrested two men selling tickets for a Christmas hamper. Furthermore, this was no ordinary hamper – it contained cocaine, hashish, alcohol, tobacco, cash as well as a traditional jamón! It was a Christmas and New Year “narco hamper”.

The police also found the list of names where customers had signed up to participate in the raffle. According to bbc.com, tickets were on sale from just €5 each.

Police also seized six kilos of marijuana and 165 plants, as well as different amounts of cocaine and hashish.
