A fatal traffic accident occurred on Thursday evening on the Paseo Marítimo Rey de España in Fuengirola, Málaga.
The crash, which took place at around 10.00 pm, resulted in two fatalities and several injuries. Local emergency services responded swiftly, and investigations are currently underway to determine the cause.
Driver loses control and crashes into terrace
Eyewitness reports suggest the car was speeding when the driver lost control on a bend. The vehicle first struck a lamppost before careening off the road and crashing into a restaurant terrace. At the time, several patrons were dining outdoors. The car’s impact sent it bouncing into an oncoming vehicle, though no one in that car was injured.
Two dead and multiple injuries, including a baby
The accident tragically claimed the lives of a 47-year-old co-driver and a 25-year-old pedestrian from Seville. The driver of the vehicle was injured, along with a baby and three men aged 42 to 50. The three men are in critical condition, and the baby is said to be stable. Thankfully, the occupants of the second vehicle involved in the crash were unharmed.
Driver arrested for alcohol and license violations
Reports from local sources reveal that the driver, a 45-year-old Iranian woman, was arrested following the crash. She was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, according to the Ayuntamiento, she was not in possession of any driving license. As a consequence of all this, the woman was arrested by police accused of committing two homicides due to gross negligence, injuries due to gross negligence, as well as a crime against road safety for driving under the influence of alcohol.
