A 26-year-old Ukranian woman is in critical condition at the General Hospital of Alicante. She fell off the cliff of the tourist castle in the town of Benidorm when she took a selfie.
Health sources reported today that a woman is in very serious condition in the Resuscitation Unit of the General Hospital of Alicante. She was transported there with several traumas and symptoms of drowning.
The events occurred this Tuesday, around 6:10 pm, when the young woman and a friend were at the viewpoint of the Benidorm castle, popularly known as “the balcony of the Mediterranean“. She tried to take a selfie on a railing with the Levante beach in the background.
Rescued and resuscitated
Apparently, an oversight caused her to accidentally fall from about 20 meters up the cliff to the sea. Lifeguards rescued her and moved her to some nearby rocks to carry out the first resuscitation attempt. They then transferred her to the port of the locality in an unconscious state.
Later, the health workers of the SAMU and Basic Life Support ambulances performed advanced cardiopulmonary recovery and other stabilisation techniques. The young woman recovered her vital signs. It was then, they transferred her to the province’s General Hospital. She remains in a critical condition.
