FOOTBALL – Rayo Vallecano qualifies for the semi finals of the Copa del Rey for the second time in 40 years. While the other Madrid team – Real Madrid exit after losing to Athletic Club.

Rayo Vallecano 1 – 0 Mallorca

A penalty taken by Oscar Trejo just before halftime was enough to secure Rayo Vallecano´s place in the semi finals of the Copa del Rey. This is only the second time in history the club has reached this stage of the Cup. The last time was in 1982 when they failed in their attempt for the final against Sporting de Gijón.

Valencia 2 – 1 Cádiz (red card)

The first of the goals came from Guedes of Valencia, assisted by Duro after 24 minutes. The first half ended 1-0. Then Lucas Pérez levelled the score with a penalty in the 54th minute. His first for the club. The decider didn´t come until Hugo Duro scored in the 79th minute. Just 5 minutes later Cala from Cádiz was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.

Despite having less possession throughout the game, Real Betis managed to score 4 goals and clinch their place in the semi finals. Juanmi hit the target twice. First in the 12th minute and again in the 57th. Willian José scored from a penalty after 83 minutes, and the final goal came in the 87th minute from Aitor Ruibal.

Cogesa Expats

Goalkeeper, Rui Silva stopped Real Sociedad from scoring and made what can only be described as a phenomenal save when he saved a close-range strike on an open goal from Alexander Izac.

Athletic Club 1 – 0 Real Madrid

Just when it was looking like going to extra time, substitute Alex Berenguer scored for Athletic Club in the 89th minute of the game. Without Benzema, Real Madrid struggled to create chances, but the Bilbao side was stronger.
