MALAGA – A 7-year old boy has died when his jet ski overturned in the Pinillo area of Marbella. The incident happened at around 7.30 pm on Thursday.
The boy and his family who were on holiday, had been enjoying a day at the beach with friends who owned the jet ski. The youngster was seemingly on the jet ski with an adult, and when they turned towards the shore, it overturned.
Jet ski overturned
It has been reported that the jet ski was in an area of the coast where waves usually form and turned on its side. Consequently, its occupants fell into the water and, apparently, it overturned on top of them in shallow water. It is unclear whether the jet ski was being driven by the boy´s father or a family friend.
As reported by SUR, Darío Pereira, who oversees The Point nautical club, located on Pinillo beach, was around 100 metres from the scene. He said, “When we arrived, the minor was unconscious on the sand. We tried to revive him, but when we saw that he was not responding we took him to the hospital in a company car.”
The Pereira drove the boy to the Costa del Sol with his father and another person. However, he arrived in cardiac arrest and despite their efforts, the health professionals were unable to revive him.
This comes after another accident involving jet skis in Salou just a few weeks ago, on 11 July when 2 jet skis collided injuring a mother and daughter who were on holiday.
